A lot of SME marketing is geared simply toward making a sale happen. Sell, sell, sell as if people give a damn what you have to say, or even need your wares in the first place.
It’s short-termist. And, as it becomes harder to gain attention of any kind (which it is), the more people shout as if that is the difference we all need.
But what about focusing on the negative responses your marketing could garner?
For instance, adding someone to your automation programme at a specific point, simply because you assume action A = response B? Or, sales not following up on a hot lead that came in via a channel that doesn’t suit the way you work? (Lots of companies hammer their social media channel, but don’t want to respond via that same channel, especially out of hours.)
If you want to ‘fish where the fish are’, you need to make sure you have the right bait. And, the right landing net.
We all know the old adage of ‘quality over quantity’, but we don’t always put in the effort.
What would happen if we did? What would happen if we took our heads out of our arses and reduced the potential negative impact of what we do when it comes to marketing?
